Arranging unwanted shelves

Hello
We all have atleast one cemented shelf in our old style constructed house ...now it looks somewhat unwanted in these days so here i am writing some ideas to beautify it ..
Firstly decide whether you want to paint it or textured it ...i tried both ..one shelf was transformed into lavender designed texture in the combination of blocks and floral ...the another one was painted with blue colour matching with my curtains...both ways it looked different and classy
